Division of Orthodontics/Department of Craniofacial Sciences, University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine
The Division of Orthodontics currently consists of 5 full-time faculty members, 2 part-time faculty members, 2 Professor Emeriti, and 13 Clinical Associates who give clinical seminars
and/or supervise cases. Four members of our faculty hold a Ph.D. degrees and many others have Masters degrees in addition to their dental doctorates. All full-time faculty members are
actively engaged in research. The Division has successfully obtained research support from federal agencies and private industry. Thus, the fellows have access to a group of broadly
focused, active clinicians and teachers with a long history of research interest and activity.
In addition to a three year combined Masters of Dental Sciences/Clinical Orthodontic Certificate Program for the Postgraduate Residency Program and a one year program in Advanced
Education for International Dentists, the Division of Orthodontics offers a one-year postgraduate fellowship to graduates of U.S. dental schools.
The fellows will develop and participate in clinical and basic science projects in the Division of Orthodontics. The fellows will learn how to execute clinical research from writing a
research protocol to the execution of the project. The fellows will also have the opportunity to attend various seminars and lectures offered by the Department of Craniofacial Sciences.
This program will also complement, if the fellows wish to pursue, further dental education. After the completion of the fellowship, a certificate will be granted.
The cost of the fellowship is $20,000 U.S. dollars for the entire year. An initial $5,000 U.S. dollars payment is needed before the beginning of the fellowship.
The program has availability for 2 fellows per year with a July 1 start date. Interested applicants should provide an application, c.v., and dental school transcripts to the Division
of Orthodontics by the January 1 deadline. Fellows will be evaluated based on the above items as well as an interview with the full-time faculty of the Division. |
